The Mediclinic’s commitment to climate action
As a company committed to sustainable development, we understand that this shared responsibility is not measured only through communications, but through actions that demonstrate our values and commitments. In line with this, and in accordance with several objectives of our Environmental Sustainability Policy, Mediclinics S.A. has taken an important step forward by calculating our corporate carbon footprint (Scopes 1 and 2) for the year 2024 and obtaining the official Carbon Footprint Registry Seal issued by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge of the Government of Spain.
On October 21st, 2025, the Spanish Office for Climate Change (OECC) issued a formal Resolution confirming the registration of our company's carbon footprint in the section “Carbon footprint and commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.” This resolution certifies that Mediclinics complies with the requirements established in Chapter III, Article 9 of Royal Decree 214/2025, of 18 March, which created the national registry of carbon footprint, compensation, and CO₂ absorption projects.

What is the Ministry’s seal and what does it represent?
The Ministry’s carbon footprint seal is a tool used to identify organizations that calculate their carbon footprint, grouped into three levels of participation:
- CALCULATION: the company has quantified its carbon footprint.
- REDUCTION: in addition to calculating, the company has demonstrated measurable progress in reducing its emissions.
- COMPENSATION: the company has offset its emissions through absorption projects validated by the Ministry.
This seal therefore has a dual purpose: on the one hand, it enables organizations to demonstrate their participation in the official registry, and on the other, it reflects the level of effort undertaken in the fight against climate change.
In this first phase of our environmental commitment, Mediclinics S.A. has obtained the CALCULATION category seal for the 2024 reporting year. The scopes included in our calculation were:
- Scope 1: direct emissions generated from activities controlled by the company.
- Scope 2: indirect emissions associated with electricity consumption.

Our first corporate carbon footprint
We carried out our calculations following internationally recognized methodologies under the GHG Protocol and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), using the official MITECO calculator (2024). The results obtained for 2024 amount to 95.47 tons of CO₂ equivalent, the vast majority of which stem from electricity consumption. This assessment covers our offices and our production and logistics center, and it represents the baseline year against which we will compare the evolution of our future emissions.
Our emission reduction plan through 2035
Based on this initial calculation, Mediclinics S.A. commits to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions by 63% by 2035, in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and the goals of the Paris Agreement (United Nations, 2015), which aim to limit global temperature increase to 1.5°C.
To achieve this objective, we have defined several lines of action focused on energy efficiency, reducing electricity consumption, and exploring renewable energy alternatives.

A step forward in our climate strategy
We believe that improvement is only possible when performance is measured and controlled. Therefore, this first calculation of our carbon footprint represents far more than a regulatory requirement: it is a management tool that will allow us to make decisions based on real data, identify efficiency opportunities, and prioritize actions with the greatest impact.
All these advancements will be carried out transparently, sharing our results and progress to ensure clear monitoring of our evolution and to reinforce our commitment to sustainability.
